Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed he will speak to Olivier Giroud over his red card against Queens Park Rangers and admitted his side’s resilience after the incident pleased him.
The Gunners went down to ten men in the second half of their 2-1 win while just one goal to the good as French striker Giroud headbutted Nedum Onuoha, which irked his boss.
But the 65-year-old did admit his side’s defensive showing following the sending off was pleasing to see.
"He knows that he has made a big mistake today. It was deserved, he didn't control himself and that of course, is a straight red.
"Of course [it was costly], it changed the game's dynamic completely.
"We were completely in control of the game, not in trouble, and suddenly we were down to ten men and only 1-0 up.
"We threw our bodies in after that.
"We knew we had to do that, and what I feel is that in the last four, five weeks we have defended with more resilience, even if we conceded from a set-piece to draw against Liverpool.
"Overall I think defensively we are better."
