Orlando Pirates are set to host SuperSport United for the Telkom Knockout Cup semifinal clash this coming Saturday night.
Kick-off is at 8:15pm
Although the Buccaneers are going into this clash without their influential goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa after he was gunned down in Vosloorus on Sunday October 26, he was laid to rest on Saturday November 01.
Looking at the United camp, they’re on a high after their midweek victory over Moroka Swallows in the league, however, that will not count in a cup game especially a semifinal.
According to defender, Ayanda Gcaba, the two weeks break has brought ups and downs in their camp, however, they’ll do their best on the field of play.
“We can’t complain about the break you know, we’ve been on and off the field of play to train and so on,” said Gcaba.
“We’re trying our best to recover from the tragic loss of Senzo and focus on the game - we believe come match day, we’ll be ready.
“We’ll give it our best and see how it goes on Saturday night, we want to score goals and play our normal game you know.
“It will be good to win and reach the final and possibly give the fallen hero a proper send off.”
To the Amatsantsantsa A Pitori defender, Thabo September, the game against the Sea Robbers is different from the game against Swallows.
“The league is different from a cup game because these games require a different plan," said September.
“The coach will come with a plan suitable for this cup game, it’s a cup semifinal – we’d like to progress to the final.
“This game requires our mental strength and we just have to give it our all.
“It’s tough for us as well to play Pirates after what happened with Senzo but we’ll try and do well.”
Should the Buccaneers win, they are set to reach their sixth consecutive final while coach Gordon Igesund is set to face his former employers for the first time after joining United.
