Alan Irvine admitted to feeling relieved after he saw his side sneak a 1-0 win over rivals Aston Villa at the Hawthorns.
Craig Gardner scored the games only goal after Kieran Richardson had seen red for the visitors.
The win lifts the pressure on the Scotsman and the Baggies boss admitted that it is a relief to win any Premier League game.
He said: “I was relieved obviously, winning any game is difficult in the Premier League and we needed a win and I think everybody was well aware of that. So of course I was a relief when that full time whistle went.“
Despite playing against ten-men for the majority of the game, the Baggies found it tough to find the back of the net but Irvine always believed the goal would come.
“I was Okay at that stage because I felt that we had plenty of time left in the game, and I felt we were going close without really ever creating any clear cut opportunities.
“But I felt that we were getting closer and closer and it was becoming more and more difficult for Villa [to withstand the pressure],” he added.
