QPR boss Redknapp rues ‘missed opportunity’ against Everton

Harry Redknapp was left to rue what he believes was a missed opportunity for his Queens Park Rangers side as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Everton.

It was a spirited performance from the Super Hoops but the lack of firepower without suspended top scorer Charlie Austin was evident, with the London outfit wasting several decent chances at Goodison Park.

The hosts were more clinical, though they had a helping hand from Rangers for all three of their goals with Ross Barkley and Kevin Mirallas scoring deflected strikes and Steven Naismith capitalising on a mistake from goalkeeper Rob Green.

But, with Everton going into the tie on the back of a poor run, Redknapp believes QPR blew the chance to claim their first points on the road this season.

"I felt the Everton crowd were very edgy tonight," said the boss, whose side remain in the bottom-three.

"If ever there was a chance to come here and get a result, it was tonight.

"I wasn't disappointed how we played. I thought we played okay.

"I thought we got on the front foot, we pressed them well, we worked hard and I felt that we deserved more than what we got from the game, we really did."
