Mesut Ozil has revealed he will not return to action for Arsenal until January.
The midfielder has been sidelined suffering a knee ligament injury during the Gunners' 2-0 defeat at Chelsea on October 5.
Arsene Wenger had hoped the 25-year-old, the club's record signing after his £42.5m move from Real Madrid in September 2013, would be back to play a part in the busy Christmas period.
But the Germany international has now announced that he is still seven weeks away from returning to action.
"I have already been out for five weeks and will be out for another seven weeks,” he said at a Laureus event in Germany.
“That is a really long time but that is the way it is in football sometimes. My head is held high and we look forward.”
