Ipswich 0-1 Southampton
45+3 min Bertrand is chased down by Murphy and hurried into conceding a throw. He took a leaf out of Long's book. It's hoyed to McGoldrick who drops his shoulder and drive sbetween Tragett and Bertrand, entering the box on the angle of the intersecting lines and larrups a shot that barely touches the very back of the side-netting. he had Hunt and Murphy screaming for the cross.
45+1 min Tadic has a shimmy and a wriggle in the box, working an opening for a left-foot shot which is blocked out for Ward-Prowse to batter over the bar.
45 min Bar three moves, Ipswich haven't been able to make the ball stick up front since Long scored. There'll be four minutes added on after the two head injuries.
42 min Chambers and Targett collide with a sickening thud, head-to-head as they battled. Targett looked for a moment as though he had been knocked out. Chambers fiddled with his teth as he sat on the floor to check all 32 were in place. they were. Targett stands up after a minute without the aid of smelling salts and seems fine. He'll have a shiner, though.
38 min Gardos pushes McGoldrick over 25 yards out as the Ipswich forward tries to hold it up with his back to goal but they waste it by tippy-tapping it to the left which lets Southampton recover and pour forward up their left when Chambers miscues a back pass and Long is down Bialkowski's throat as the keeper dashes out to save the day. Theh ball could have gone anywhere asBialkowski got there a split-second before Long and crashes it off the striker's shin but ends up at Parr's feet.
36 min Portman Road - the biggest crowd for 42 months - is almost full but there's very little partcipation until they win a corner. And then suddenly it erupts. They take it short and Ambrose whips in a fine cross that Smith ought to bury as he meets it 12 yards out but gets the wrong contact, as if his head were the shape of a 50p piece.
34 min Long is all over Berra in a good way, hounding the life out of him and working the opportunity to rob him and send in a cross that's too deep. Targett gets up for it about 18 yards out and gives another Ipswich player, Chambers I think, a headache, but Ipswich clear their lines because the aerial battle ends with the ball shooting vertically rather than horizontally.
32 min Parr races back to cut out Wanyama's underhit pass that was aimed for Ward-Prowse and Clyne haring down the right.
30 min There's quite a delay while Murphy is patched up and a new shirt is sent for.
27 min Southampton shot from Ward-Prowse that takes an unlucky deflection and gives them a corner from which Hyam knocks it 40 yards up for Hunt who takes it left and fires a shot wide. Murphy has a deep gash on his brow from defending the corner after colliding with his own player.
25 min McGoldrick breaks from the centre-circle and goes across field with support, beats Bertrand and Targett but squanders the opportunity when he passes blindly out to the right and Ward-Prowse had tracked back to clear.
22 min Ipswich are starting to wobble now, a bad pass from Chambers allowing Southampton to win a corner a minute after Wanyama messed up a decent shooting opportunity. There have been a couple of hand ball shouts, too.
GOAL!! Ipswich 0-1 Southampton (Long) Excellent finish that came indirectly from Murphy's weak cross that allowed Forster to launch an attack wth a quick release. Reed scampered forward with it towards the box, Smith slid in to dispossess Ward-Prowse, knocking it squarely into Long's stride and the Ireland striker hooked it adeptly into the net from wide on the right of the area.
19 min Murphy tracks out to the left, turns and lofts a cross to Forster.
17 min Scrappy is the euphemism generally used for the quality so far. It has a consonant too many for an accurate appraisal.
15 min Bru is penalised for one of those fouls that wouldn't have been deemed one 10 years ago, the step across before toeing the ball away. The foul is committed by the buttock as much as anything, crashing into the leg that's about to make the pass. Tadic hits the ground after being heavily buttocked by Bru.
13 min Southampton aren't playing with their usual verve and Ward-Prowse smacks a crossfield pass that flies 50 yards out of play on the left without looking as if it had any danger of going within 10 yards of a team-mate.
10 min Ipswich are exploiting the gaps between the nominal wing-backs and the wide centre-halfs, this time McGoldrick taking the ball out to the touchline and flicking it behind him to Parr's run on the overlap. The left-back takes it to the byline and floats a powder-puff cross into Forster's outstretched arms.
8 min Long's chasing of a lost cause, harrying Forster, forces England's back-up keeper to snatch at his clearance from the right of the area and leaves a difficult volley chance into an unguarded net from 30 yards. Wanyama meets it and sends it soaring into orbit. It goes higher than even Gagarin managed.
6 min Stephen Hunt puts the ball in the back of the net after springing through on the left between Gardos and Clyne, taking a touch and finishing with power and precision when one-on-one. But he had drifted offside by about a foot.
4 min Forster cuts out a dinky through-ball intended for McGoldrick and tries to counter quickly with a throw to Targett. He sees Long racing up the middle and veering left but the wing-back absolutely horses up his intended release pass, larruping it 60 yards behind for a goalkick.
2 min Bertrand's playing as the third centre-half with Targett pushing up the flank. Fonte cuts out a chip intended for Murphy with his head.
1 min Ipswich kick off and knock it up the left, conceding a Southampton throw after half a minute when Murphy couldn't hang on to it.
19.54 Out come the teams.
19.50 Southampton are playing 3-5-2, Ronald Koeman says, with Tadic off Long upfront, and Targett as the third centre-back.
19.30 Good evening folks. Tonight sees Ipswich and Southampton in FA Cup replay action, Roger Osborne v Bobby Stokes. Will it match the fun and games of Upton Park last night (20 penalties and a goalscoring keeper)? You'll just have to hang around and see. Before the 1-1 draw at St Mary's 10 days ago, these two teams, each third in their division, had met four times previously in the Cup. And Southampton won them all - 2-1 in 2010, 0-1 in 1999, 3-2 in 1991 and, remarkably given that Ipswich were promoted in 1961 and Southampton finished eighth in League Division Two, 7-1 at the Dell.
