Manchester City star Sergio Aguero was substituted with a back problem against Stoke City, boss Manuel Pellegrini has revealed.
The Argentine striker hit two goals in their 4-1 victory over the Potters on Wednesday night but left the field three minutes after grabbing his second strike of the game.
And Pellegrini admitted this was due to an injury the player had picked up, although the Chilean is hopeful he should be fit for their next Premier League clash.
"He felt something in the back,” he said.
“My feeling is it is not too serious and he now has 10 days to recover and train well. I hope he will be fit to face Newcastle."
