Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-3 Leeds: Last-minute winner fires Wolves into play-offs

Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards scored a stoppage-time winner to seal a dramatic 4-3 victory over Leeds and fire his side team into the Championship play-off places.

In a thrilling seven-goal clash at Molineux, Charlie Taylor stunned the home crowd by handing Leeds an 11th minute lead.

Wolves soon took charge, however, opening up a 3-1 lead thanks to Nouha Dicko’s brace, taking his tally for the season up to 13, and Benik Afobe’s strike moments into the second half, but the visitors then threatened to pull off a stunning comeback.

A 65th minute own goal from Wolves captain Danny Batth gave Kenny Jackett’s side the jitters and Alex Mowatt cashed in on their nerves to fire Leeds level at 3-3 with a 25 yard belter.

It looked good enough to earn Leeds a hard-earned point, only for substitute Edwards to flash home a header from McDonald's left wing cross two minutes from time to spark mayhem in the stands and lift Wanderers into sixth place, dumping Brentford out of the play-offs in the process.

The result completes a miserable Easter for Leeds head coach Neil Redfearn, whose future at Elland Road remains shrouded in doubt after his side crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Blackburn on Good Friday.
