Second-half goals from Tashreeq Morris and Granwald Scott secured a 2-0 win for Ajax Cape Town over the University of Pretoria in an Absa Premiership clash at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening.

The Urban Warriors finally ended their winless run against AmaTuks with their fifth home win in succession on a chilly night in the Mother City.

AmaTuks' pressing game was in full effect from the onset with Ajax limited to controlling possession in their own half in the opening changes.

The visitors took the early initiative with Anssi Jaakola coming to Ajax's rescue in the 17th minute. Mukamba dusted himself off before firing a powerful free-kick at goal, which the Finnish gloves man kept out with a diving save.

Dolly, who had recently returned to favour after spell on the bench, had a chance to open the scoring for the Urban Warriors soon after.

The Bafana Bafana midfielder surged into the AmaTuks penalty area, but could only succeed in directing his effort straight at a thankful Washington Arubi.

AmaTuks were enjoying the better of the chances and came within inches of opening the scoring in 29th minute as Atusaye Nyondo's first-time effort cannoned off the post.

Neither side were able to really test the opposition goalkeeper as the half grew to an end with Tuks looking good to extend their unbeaten league record against the Cape Town outfit to six games.

Erwin Isaacs had a chance to get the Urban Warriors on the score sheet nine minutes after the interval. The speedy attacker darted in front of his marker, but was unable to connect Riyaad Norodien's pin-point cross.

The handful of fans that gathered finally had something to cheer about in the 79th minute thanks to a powerful header from Morris. The second-half substitute headed Mosa Lebusa's cross past a helpless Arubi for his sixth goal of the season.

Scott put the icing on the cake with a superb free-kick in the 90th minute to move Ajax level on points with fifth place Bloemfontein Celtic.

AmaTuks remain 10th.
