Bloemfontein Celtic striker Lerato Lamola is delighted to have reached his pre-season target of 10 PSL goals in the current campaign – one of four players to have hit that mark so far.
Lamola, Cuthbert Malajila of Mamelodi Sundowns, Free State Stars’ Moeketsi Sekola and Puleng Tlolane from Polokwane City lead the scorers race this season, all with 10 goals.
It makes for an exciting final few weeks of the season as the quartet strike for the Golden Boot this campaign.
“At the beginning of the season I set myself a target to reach 10 goals and one must commend teammates for their sublime contribution through amazing team spirit,” Lamola told his club’s website. “Led by the charismatic captain in Bevan Fransman, we managed to cohesively work towards the common goal, that of winning games for the betterment of the team.”
Lamola says the return to the club of coach Clinton Larsen has given the players confidence to push on for a top four finish.
“Our coach, together with his technical team, has instilled a sense of self esteem and incredible zeal to win and fight no matter the circumstances and that spirit will see us ending at position four at least.
“It is possible looking at the type of players and the support received from management.”
Next up for Celtic is an away trip to Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
