Jurgen Klopp faces DFB Cup holders Bayern Munich for one last time as Borussia Dortmund head coach in Tuesday's semifinal at the Allianz Arena (kick-off 20:30 CEST / 18:30 GMT). The match will be broadcast live on SS7 HD.

History

Bayern and Dortmund have contested two of the last three finals, with the former now chasing a third DFB Cup title in a row and 18th overall following their extra-time show of muscle in Berlin last May.

The Bavarians won at home and away in the Bundesliga earlier in the campaign, but lost the curtain-raising DFL Supercup 2-0.

The stakes

Freshly-crowned Bundesliga champions Bayern have designs on repeating their treble-winnining feat of 2012/13. Dortmund stood in their way on all three fronts back then, but this time the DFB Cup represents BVB's only chance of silverware. The winners will face either DSC Arminia Bielefeld or VfL Wolfsburg in the final.

Bayern team news

Rafinha, Juan Bernat and Xabi Alonso are in contention after being rested at the weekend. The game is likely to come too soon for Moroccan centre-back Medhi Benatia, who only returned to training on Sunday, but Arjen Robben (r.) is expected to feature following injury. David Alaba, Franck Ribery and Holger Badstuber are all out.

Dortmund team news

Mitchell Langerak will continue in goal in the absence of Roman Weidenfeller. Ilkay Gündogan (l.) is available again after sitting out Saturday's win over Eintracht Frankfurt, and could replace Matthias Ginter. Henrikh Mkhitaryan may also have to make do with a place on the bench, with fit-again forward Marco Reus set to start.

Key player: Bayern

There aren't many in Munich that know Dortmund quite like Robert Lewandowski, save perhaps Mario Götze. The Polish forward scored the only goal of the game the last time the two sides met in the league and has since found his best form in a Bayern jersey, notching eight goals in his last ten appearances in all competitions.

Key player: Dortmund

Lewandowski's former BVB teammate Reus hasn't started a game since that 1-0 defeat to Bayern on 4 April, but he looked fresh when he stepped off the bench against Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon. Be it during his Gladbach days or more recently for Dortmund, the 25-year-old has always caused Germany's record champions problems.

What they're saying: Bayern

Guardiola (head coach): "The line-up's a secret. I'll make a decision the morning before the game. Arjen [Robben] isn't someone who warms the bench. If he's fit, he plays. He trained and everyone saw that it went well. [Javi Martinez] could also get a few minutes' playing time."

What they're saying: Dortmund

Klopp (head coach): "Anyone who wants to win the cup will have to beat Bayern. It's a massive hurdle on the way to Berlin. Bayern don't give away anything, we'll have to be switched on from the start. We want to make our own big impression on the game, not just pinpricks."

Form

Bayern needed penalties to see off Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the previous round, but put in one of their most dominant performances to date under Guardiola against FC Porto in the Uefa Champions League last Tuesday. BVB, who edged TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in extra time in the quarters, beat Frankfurt 2-0 at the weekend.

Possible line-ups:

Bayern: Neuer - Rafinha, Boateng, Dante, Juan Bernat - Xabi Alonso - Lahm, Thiago - Robben, Müller - Lewandowski

Dortmund: Langerak - Durm, Sokratis, Hummels, Schmelzer - Bender, Gündogan - Blaszczykowski, Kagawa, Reus - Aubameyang
