Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been crowned the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane finished in second place with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in third.

Kane also scooped the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Hazard, 24, scooped the coveted award after being voted for by his fellow professionals at the ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on Sunday evening.

The Belgium international has played a integral role in Chelsea's campaign where they are all but certain to be crowned Premier League champions for the 2014-15 season.

In helping the club to their fourth Premier League title, Hazard has struck 13 goals, contributing eight assists in 32 appearances.

"I'm very happy. One day I want to be the best and what I did this season is play very well, Chelsea played very well," he said.

"I don't know if I deserve to win but it is good for me. It is better to be voted by the players - they know everything about football.

"Personally I have played a good season, I have been there in the big games and I scored a lot of important goals, this is why I'm better this season."

Hazard was one of six Chelsea players named in the PFA's Premier League Team of the Year, alongside Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa.

Former Blues full-back Ryan Bertrand, who left Chelsea on a permanent basis to sign for Southampon in January, also made the team.

No Chelsea player has won the PFA Player of the Year award since John Terry in 2005.
