Hull City manager Steve Bruce is confident of his side's chances of getting a win against Manchester United on the final day of the season to avoid the relegation to the Championship.
The Tigers suffered a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 16 May, meaning they need to secure the three points at the KC Stadium next week to have any chance of survival.
Although Bruce's side enjoyed a strong start to the game where they created a couple of chances before half time, goals from Nacer Chadli and Danny Rose in the second half left them two points adrift of safety with just one game remaining.
Bruce believes his side deserved a better result at White Hart Lane and is confident that if they can produce a similar performance against his old club United, they can avoid the relegation.
"You can't come to Tottenham and create five or six good chances and not take one. We've switched off at the back and they have taken their chances," he said to BBC.
"In terms of the way we played, no disrespect to Burnley but if we played like that against them our chances wouldn't be in the hands of others. We have to believe we can beat Manchester United next week.
"Six or seven of the players got me into the league a few years ago. They have big hearts. We've missed some of those big players during this season. We have a chance. Is there one final twist? Can we upset the apple cart. Lets hope we can do it."
Bruce also described living the hardest hours of his managerial career in recent days after Jake Livermore was suspended by the Football Association and his club after testing positive for cocaine.
"It has been unquestionably my hardest 24/36 hours in management. It is hard to put your head round things," he admitted.
"As always you have to handle it and not let it affect people. We are hugely disappointed but we have to move on, dust ourselves down and prepare as well as we can in a tough week."
