Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford has hailed Aitor Karanka – claiming the Spaniard is similar to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
The Boro chief worked under the Portuguese maestro during their time together at Real Madrid and, while Mourinho has guided the Blues to the Premier League title this season, Karanka is on the verge of sealing a Championship Play-Off final spot.
And Bamford, currently on loan at the Riverside Stadium from Chelsea, claims the 41-year-old has learned from one of the very best.
“Aitor Karaka is very similar to Jose Mourinho in the detail he goes into with everything,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show.
“He spends every minute that he’s not on the training pitch looking at the opposition and working out what we can do against them.
“His tactics are always on point. He manages the squad very well. It’s very difficult with the squad we’ve got because we have so many players. There are always going to be people who are upset after being left out.
“So far he’s done a good job. The team is really together.”
