Louis van Gaal believes that Arsenal have a better team than Chelsea but lack the winning mentality, which the Blues have developed under their talisman Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United take on the Gunners at Old Trafford in a battle to finish in the top three and dispel the need of having to go through a tricky qualifier to get into the Champions League group stages next season.
The Gunners, who did not have a good start to the season, have managed to come back strong in the second half, with their 10-game unbeaten streak, broken by Swansea City last weekend, and managed a smash and grab job over the north London club at the Emirates.
However, Van Gaal believes that it is still a false dawn for Arsenal, who need players like John Terry and Gary Cahill to properly utilise their squad, something which he is trying to impress on his team for next season.
"I have not given the team a winning mentality yet because we are not champions and I think that is a quality of the champions. We have improved lot, but we have to learn to do what Chelsea have done in the way they can play and finish the games – that is the big difference now between us and them," Van Gaal said.
"I think Arsenal maybe have a better team but they cannot finish off opponents like Chelsea. That is also about talent and experience like John Terry and Gary Cahill. That is the difference," he added.
The Dutchman went on to add that he believes Arsenal were the better team when the Red Devils won at the Emirates, but the tide turned around in the quarter finals of the FA Cup when his side dominated the proceedings but were picked off by the Gunners.
"In big games, we have performed well. We played City with 10 men at the Etihad and we were better. And also, in our home game [against City], better. Arsenal were better at home than us even though we won, but we were better here in the FA Cup when we lost. With Chelsea we were equal at home and at Stamford Bridge much better, in spite of what Mourinho has said," he concluded.
