Arsenal move for Čech done? Lauren seems to think so.

Former Arsenal defender Lauren has welcomed Chelsea's Petr Čech to the club ahead of any official announcement from the London clubs.

Lauren, who spent six years at the north London club and was part of the infamous Invincibles side, tweeted: "All the best to Cech. Long time without stability in that position and another great goner move to get the Premier League."

Lauren's message on Twitter follows a report from the Daily Telegraph on Saturday, claiming Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is ready to make the 33-year-old Czech Republic international the highest paid goalkeeper in the club's history with a contract of £100,000 per week.

Wenger opted to drop Wojciech Szczęsny following a serious of high profile errors in December 2014, installing Colombia international David Ospina as his no. 1 in goal for Premier League games for the rest of the 2014-15 season.

Szczęsny returned in goal for the club's FA Cup games in 2015 and kept a clean sheet in their final victory over Aston Villa in May, but Cech's availability would appear to have tempted Wenger into bringing in another option.

Cech spent most the 2014-15 season acting as Thibaut Courtois' understudy at Stamford Bridge and the Belgium international admits he understands the veteran goalkeeper's decision to find a new challenge.

"Petr is a fantastic guy and I worked really well with him," Courtois told reporters, as reported by Goal.

"When you look at Petr's quality there is no doubt that he is one of the best in the world and I think we pushed each other to a higher level.

"I think we have seen in the games for Chelsea that if I was not playing he was playing and he saved the team as well. So I think it was a very good year for Chelsea.

"If he stays I am happy. If he leaves I understand as well."
