08.25 Time to turn our attention to Chelsea, where Amitai Winehouse is manning the barricades on our Chelsea deadline day transfer news and rumours blog.
08.20 Roberto Martinez is girding his loins to keep penalty-hog Kevin Mirallas at Everton, despite the overtures of Tottingham. Good player but clearly a terrible rotter. Would you want him at your club? Or was that penno thing pure hogwash?
08.15 Turning away from transfers, the brilliantly named Jerome Champagne has dropped out of the FIFA presidential running.
08.02 So what other news is there related to Manchester United? Have a look at Laura Lambert's Man United transfer blog, for starters. She writes:
There's that new fad in news organisations to do a round-up of what happened 'while you were sleeping'. Well, in case your morning isn't the same without it, I'll let you know what happened. Van Gaal had a very good night's sleep and didn't make the much hoped-for 'double swoop' or 'triple dive'. Not yet anyway.
Van Gaal may have been tucked up in bed, but do you really think the rumour mill switches off overnight? How foolish. Of course not. The Sun have a story for us. They have reported that PSG rejected United's bid for Marquinhos last night. Whether or not we believe it is another story entirely.
08.00 Whatever happens today, I think it will do well to top that story from the other day about the kid at Salford City getting signed by Manchester United.
Libyan right-back Sadiq El Fitouri, 20, has signed for United from the Evo-Stik first division north club, who are part-owned by members of the famed Class of '92.
El Fitouri has been training with United after they were alerted to him by former players Phil Neville and Paul Scholes
Salford signed the right-back after he was released by Manchester City and he has now signed an 18-month deal at Old Trafford.
"This is a dream come true for me and I have to thank SCFC (Salford City) for the chance as well as the faith they have showed in me," El Fitouri said.
"I am really looking forward to what happens next and to be given the opportunity to do so at Manchester United is unbelievable."
El Fitouri will join up with Warren Joyce's Under-21 squad.
07.55 Enjoying this from Sky Sauces. "Aaron Lennon having second thoughts about Hull move and considering other options."
I'll bet he is.
07.45 Maybe Arsene is playing it close to the vest, maybe there's not a lot of stir up in Islington, but here are his quotes.
Here are the Arsenal quotes from yesterday from arsenal.com. But we all know Arsene likes to tease us ...
- To the point on whether there will be any more outgoings (Campbell, Sanogo, Podolski have all gone out on loan already): "No."
- He had more to say about having too many attacking options: "Yes of course but my job is about selection. Sometimes, no matter who you select, you can be wrong. No matter who you select, you can be right as well when you have the quality. You cannot really be wrong because all the players have the quality to play." That's cleared that up: you can be wrong but you cannot really be wrong. Got it.
- And on new signings? "We have done what we wanted and unless there is a huge surprise and somebody calls me - not the journalists, an agent - then why not? At the moment, nothing, it’s very quiet."
07.35 What news of the Arsenal? Well, your first port of call throughout the day will be Malcolm Coles on our Arsenal Transfer News Blog. Speed ye over there for news about Cockers Coquelln and Little Theo Walcott re-signing. (Not resigning.)
And also, have a look at our rating and slating of Arsenal's January transfer dealings in times past.
Arsenal's January transfers ranked: in pictures
Mart Poom! I forgot about Poom. First I fogot about Dre, then I forgot about Poom and yes that is the most contemporary rap reference I can think of and what are you going to do about it?
07.25 A little bit of Man City, who reportedly seem like they might be possibly looking to be allegedly set to offload Edin Dzeko to Fenerbache. That seems an odd one, to me. I mean, he hasn't looked quite the ticket this season but he generally gets game time, he has qualities that Aguero does not, and if Aguero were to get injured (hardly beyond the realms of possiblity) then City could be in the laughable position of having one hundred billion dollars but not enough footballers.
Anyhow, I am sure that Man City know best. If they are indeed looking to bin Dzeko off for 12 million quid, as the rumour claims. How would that rank among their recent bits of business? Here are Manchester City transfers under Manuel Pellegrini ranked - by Mark Ogden
Yeah man! I like him. If you are of a Man City persuasion, you can check in with Dan Lucas on our Manchester City live transfer blog. Yes that's right folks, a blog JUST for Man City transfer rumours.
07.15 Oh and then almost as soon as I click 'publish' on that, another rumour here about Harry Redknapp wanting Emmanuel Adebayor at QPR. A perfect storm of transfer bull.
07.10 Emmanuel Adebayor is a hardy perenial on TDDs - and his latest caper appears to be a move to Stoke, where Adebayor's hard-working approach, rock solid sense of team spirit and willingness to muck in will surely be the ideal fit for Mark Hughes and company.
*Harry Hill sideways look*
Anyway, that's the rumour.
07.00 Splendid quotes coming out of QPR from that nice Joey Barton. Si Hughes has the story:
In the latest post-match autopsy, leading figures offered opposite assessments about why Queens Park Rangers hopes of gaining any away points perished so quickly.
Captain Joey Barton was furious at the way QPR defended. Each of Jonathan Walters's three goals for Stoke City were avoidable and the first two were a result of too many passes at the back.
"It's the Premier League, it's the not f**king about league," Barton fumed. "And we've been f**king about too much."
QPR have lost every game on their travels this season. Barton reasoned the record during their last campaign in the Premier League was similarly "sh*t," but at least they collected 11 points on the road then. It is impossible to see such a miserly total being toppled this time.
"It's been the same story," Barton continued, comparing this performance to the one recently at Burnley. "We've been our own worst enemy and it's not f**king good enough."
Harry Redknapp, therefore, is going to sign a striker. Oh no, but what's this? The man himself has had a pop at Transfer Deadline Day! But Harry! You ARE transfer deadline day.
06.50 Let's start the churn machine! What are other newspapers, if that's what these things still are, saying about the day's dealings?
The Express say that Mats Hummels and Kevin De Bruyne are going to Man U. Those sparkling fellows play for Wolsburg and Borussia D respectively.
Inter Milan want Micah Richards! What, as a hat stand? No silly - to play in defence. Sure. That's from the Daily Star and that's good enough for me. I for one have already ordered my Inter Milan 'Richards' jersey (number 87) from the club store.
The journey from being the hottest young property in English football to, erm, being on loan at Everton is just a step away for Adnan Januzaj, or so it says The Sun. Poor little soul.
06.45 Everyone's hoping for some mega deal today that we can all get excited about. BUT LEGAL DISCLAIMER: the value of your massive January transfer signing may go down as well as up. Here are the ten most expensive January moves of all time, and not all of them proved to be worth their weight in the massive sacks of gold that they cost.
06.40 So what news is there around and about? An exciting young player possibly joining Tottenham Hotspur. Here's our man Matt Law with the lowdown on Dele Alli:
Tottenham Hotspur have made a late bid to try to snatch MK Dons wonderkid Dele Alli from under the noses of Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
There is also growing confidence at White Hart Lane that Spurs have won the race to sign central defender Winston Reid from fierce rivals West Ham in the summer.
Villa remain hopeful of landing 18-year-old midfielder Alli on a deal that will see him stay at MK Dons for the rest of the season after rivalling Newcastle’s interest in the player.
06.34 Aw, Hull winger Sone Aluko says that he watches TDD just for the enjoyment alone! He sounds like a nice lad. I like footballers who just seem a bit like football dorks, ratther than gleaming sex robots that live on a diet of money and Lucozade.
06.25 How would young Juan rate in the history of Chelsea January transfer moves? Have a look at their signings in this picture gallery. Warning: features Nando Torres.
06.20 Looks like one of the biggest moves could be Juan Cuadrado.
Dreamy duo Jeremy Wilson and John Percy have the skinny...
Chelsea still expect to confirm the second biggest signing of the winter transfer window on Monday for Colombia winger Juan Cuadrado although the £26.8 million deal remains dependent on reaching final agreement to sell André Schürrle to Wolfsburg.
Chelsea are understood to have dropped their asking price for Schürrle to close to £20 million and negotiations were at an advanced stage but still not complete on Sunday.
“There is no agreement at the moment,” the Wolfsburg sporting director, Klaus Allofs, said. “The clock is running out. Our options are getting less hour by hour. It depends on money. We still would like to sign him.”
Chelsea, though, were remaining confident of reaching agreement, with Mohamed Salah also poised to join Fiorentina on loan as part of the Cuadrado deal. Chelsea have agreed to pay Fiorentina an initial £23.3 million that could rise to Cuadrado’s £26.8 million release clause.
It was a coin toss as to whose little picture byline I used. Nice early boost for the boy Percy, traditionally one of our TDD stars and the font of all wisdom for thinks related to The Midlands.
06.15 Morning. Welcome to our live blog of transfer deadline day. We’re going to do three things today. Y’all listenin’?
1) We will bring you all the news and rumours
2) You will tell me what you think of the news and rumours and who you would like your club to sign.
3) And this is most important. If you have a piece of transfer gossip, no matter how unlikely, you will send it in to me and we will take it from there. Perhaps you’re the chairman of a Premier League club who has just had talks with Gareth Bale and his representatives. Perhaps your cousin’s mate’s hairdresser thinks she saw Ronaldo at Luton airport. It doesn’t matter. This is a broad church, and all are welcome.
