Tottenham Hotspur are considering a deadline day move to sign Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to the Mirror.
The 25-year-old has less than six months left on his contract. The north London club are not looking to wait till the end of the season to secure his services on a free transfer. They are set to sign him during the mid-season transfer window, which will end on Monday.
Mauricio Pochettino wants to add Konoplyanka to the squad and Tottenham are weighing in a £5m bid to bring him to White Hart Lane.
The Premier League club faced tough competition from AS Roma as the Serie A outfit were keen on signing him earlier this week. Dnipro general manager Andriy Stetsenko admitted that a deal was agreed between the two clubs for the transfer of the Ukrainian international to Italy.
Konoplyanka's father revealed the winger had rejected a chance to join Roma in the ongoing transfer window and will continue with the Ukrainian club till the end of the season.
The former Southampton manager is willing to allow Tottenham winger Aaron Lenon to join Hull City on-loan until the end of the season. Pochettino is looking to sign Konoplyanka as he wants to boost his side's chances of finishing the season in top four.
The Argentine has already admitted that Tottenham are open to signings in the winter transfer window and a deadline day transfer for Dnipro star could be on the cards.
Pochettino saw his side seal a 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. Tottenham are fifth in the table with 40 points, one point ahead of Arsenal, who have a game in hand as they face Aston Villa on Sunday.
He was happy with his side's display and has cooled down Tottenham's chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League.
"We don't speak about that, I think that we need to focus on the next game. Step by step, I think this is our objective - no objective or challenge on the long term," Pochettino said.
"We need to play every game like we played today. If we show the performance like today, maybe we have the possibility to arrive [in the top four] but we need to be consistent from here to the end of the season."
"I am very proud of my players, I congratulate them because it was a great performance - like a team," he added.
