Bidvest Wits and Mamemodi Sundowns will lock horns at the Bidvest Stadium on Tuesday night as both attempt to secure second spot on the Absa Premiership log.

Kick-off is at 7:30pm.

The Students are fresh from a disappointing 3-0 loss at the hands of Swaziland giants Royal Leopards which saw their CAF Confederations campaign coming to an end last Saturday and the match against the Brazilians grants them an opportunity to bounce back.

The Braamfontein-based club is placed at position three on the log with 37 points from 20 matches and their visitors are just above them on goal difference with 37 points, but with a game in hand.

Despite their CAF loss, Gavin Hunt’s men are doing well in the league as they’ve registered two consecutive wins.

On the other hand, Pitso Mosimane’s men are boosted by their 3-0 win over Seychelles side St Michel on Saturday. The Chloorkop outfit have also won their two league matches in 2015 and are going to Braamfontein in high spirits.

According to the current PSL player of the season, Sibusiso Vilakazi, they’re still keen on challenging for the league.

“We’re still interested in the league, we’ll just look at ourselves and forget who’s on top or below us on the log standings, we have to take each game as it comes - keep one game at a time,” said Vilakazi.

“We know Sundowns will be a tough team to beat but we’ve got a great team that’s assembled.

“It’s important to win something at the end of the season, we’ll take one game at a time because we know how important it is to bring something to the team at the end of the season - it’s been drought.”

However, the Brazilians midfield general Teko Modise says they’re confident of doing well in Braamfontein.

“Our first match against Seychelles Champions St Michel ended in a stalemate and the return match had to be a win for us and yes it was,” said Modise.

“The next fixture is an Absa Premiership match against Wits. This will be the third match of the league since returning from the mid-season break.

“Playing in three different competitions is not easy but we have won four out of the five matches we have played.

“The players are confident about the way we play, everyone in the camp knows what we have to do to keep the results coming.”
