Arsenal have confirmed goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has joined Championship strugglers Rotherham United on an emergency loan deal.
Martinez, 22, will spend the rest of the 2014-15 campaign at the New York Stadium as Steve Evans's side, currently six points clear of the relegation zone, seek to retain their second-tier status having won promotion via the play-offs last season.
He is the second player to join the Millers in the last 24 hours, with versatile Charlton defender Lawrie Wilson joining on loan until the summer after falling out of favour at The Valley under Guy Luzon.
For Martinez, the temporary switch north represents a good opportunity to compete for regular first-team football.
As third-choice behind both David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny at Arsenal, the former Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday loanee was unlikely to add to his season total of six appearances between now and May.
Ospina in particular looks to have impressed manager Arsene Wenger after taking time to adapt to life in the Premier League following a summer move from Nice.
"Delighted to have signed for @rotherhamunited on loan until the end of the season I will give my best #championship," Martinez said on Twitter following confirmation of the move.
Subject to ratification from the relevant authorities, both Martinez and Wilson could be in line to make their Rotherham debuts on 21 March 21 as Evans's side seek to move further away from trouble with victory in a Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will look to recover from their Champions League last-16 exit at the hands of Monaco when they travel to St James' Park to face a Newcastle United side who have lost three of their last four top-flight fixtures.
