Ten man AmaZulu played to a 1-1 draw against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday night after their striker Bongi Ntuli was sent off in the fifth minute in the Absa Premiership clash.

AmaZulu maintained their good form of not losing a match this year despite having taken an early lead before Chippa found an equaliser in the additional time of the first half.

Goals from Mbulelo Mabizela and an own goal by Roscoe Pietersen was what saw the two teams sharing a point each.

AmaZulu started the match with a rather disappointing act as their striker Ntuli was given a red card after a foul in the fifth minute of the match.

After this incident Chippa took advantage and attacked more often, trying to play in AmaZulu’s half.

In the 17th minute Bornwell Mwape had a chance to give Usuthu a lead but his shot went wide.

Pietersen also tried to find a lead for the visiting team but Mbongeni Mzimela made a good save on his left.

AmaZulu continued to attack and they finally cracked the deadlock when Sifiso Hlanti took a classic set piece which was well headed by Mabizela inside the net to give Usuthu a 1-0 lead in the 34 minute.

Chippa substitute Siyabulela Shai who had come in for Zulu made sure that his presence was felt in this match.

In the 37 minutes he gave Murambadoro a surprising shot which he could not hold onto the first time, but was quick enough to hold on to it at the second attempt.

In the additional time of the first half Chippa United found their equalizer through an own goal that was scored by Pietersen and that saw the two teams going into halftime tied on 1-1.

The second half resumed at a high tempo with both teams eager to find the back of the net.

Chippa got a set piece after William Twala was brought down but they could not make good use of it.

In the 62 minute Chippa were on fire as Twala and Shai did not give the AmaZulu defence much rest.

Shai came close to registering his name in the score sheet but his strike was denied by Murambadoro.

In the last ten minutes of the match Chippa got another chance through a set piece that was taken by Mbenyane and fell on Shai’s foot but ended going to waste again.

Despite all this Chippa United continued to search for a goal but Usuthu couldn’t allow them as both the teams ended sharing a point each.
