Casillas makes a fine diving save to deny Sane a second after a fine strike from range. Schalke attempting to do something no team has ever done in the Champions League and comeback from a two-goal first leg deficit away from home.

Whatever the result, this has been an amazing performance from Schalke. Huntelaar hammers in off the crossbar after a counter-attack and with five minutes left the German club need one goal to knock-out the holders. They have scored four goals in the Bernabeu. Fantastic stuff and a grand slam finale in the offing.

Another goal and another stunner from the hosts who have going through to the last eight with a flourish. Aboubakar goes through, holds off the defender and sweeps a beauty into the top corner. Fine finish.
Schalke look very good on the eye but the might have to start backing up their effective football with a goal or two or they're heading very stylishly out of the Champions League. Meyer is everywhere for the visitors tonight and he looks a real find at just 19.

What a strike! The cherry on the top of Porto's Champions League quarter-final cake with a stunning goal from on loan Real Madrid player Casemiro who smashes home a free-kick from fully 35 yards. Goodnight Basel.

Err, Schalke refuse to go away and they score again as Sane makes room for himself and curls a beauty beyond Casillas and draws the German club level again. They need two more goals in the final 32 minutes.

Another pivotal goal in the night's Champions League action and it probably ends the challenge of FC Basel as Hector Herrera drives towards goal and smashes one into the corner from nearly 25 yards. With 35 minutes remaining in both games, that might be that.

Schalke's challenge probably extinguished as Karim Benzema walks in a third Real Madrid goal on the night. Real home and dry you would think.
Luka Modric, who returns from injury tonight, on for Real Madrid at half time. Real have the upper hand on aggregate but they still look vulnerable to Schalke's free-flowing attacking play. Second half under way.
Half time also in Portugal where Porto lead by a Brahimi goal to nil against a Basel side who have shown very little ambition and must show a little bit more if they're to take their place in the quarter-final.
Vintage Cristiano Ronaldo has holders Madrid on course for the last eight. Schalke went ahead twice but the Champions League's record scorer has struck twice, both with headers, to put Carlo Ancelotti's side in charge in the tie, if not on the night.

Real Madrid are all over the place at the Bernabeu and they're rattled to be frank, Schalke well on top and could they go in front in the tie before half time? A succession of corners come to nothing but Roberto di Matteo's team are producing a fine display tonight.

Huntelaar smashes the ball against the crossbar but in the same move the Dutch forward hammers Schalke back in front as Casillas fumbles from Meyer's effort and Huntelaar gets there ahead of Coentrao to find the net from close range. Game back on.
Derlis Gonzalez booked for a horrible tackle on goalscorer Brahimi, a really horrible tackle. He dives in for another challenge does the right-sided Basel midfielder and he's very much walking a tightrope.
Gareth Bale, who is very much under fire in the eyes of the Madrid public, is denied from range. In Portugal, Aboubaker curls wide from range as Basel continue to lack ambition. Trying to hang in there are the Swiss side.

Schalke's lead lasts a mere four minutes as Cristiano Ronaldo heads home with aplomb. His 77th in this competition, more than any other player. Real level.

Drama of a different sort at the Bernabeu, where Schalke are deservedly ahead on the night over Real Madrid. The German club have dominated the opening 20 minutes and they have their reward as Fuchs ends a fine move by slamming via Casillas' hands into the net. Tie on.
