Steven Gerrard has confirmed he will move to the MLS this summer when his contract expires at Liverpool.
The Liverpool captain could be paraded in America as early as July, although it is thought the Merseysiders are considering re-sigining him on loan next January.
After Gerrard announced his intention to leave Anfield at the end of this season, the club were exploring the possibility of a swift reunion in a year’s time.
As reported by our football writer Chris Bascombe on Friday evening, the 34-year-old has decided to move his family to America this summer, where he will feature in the second half of the MLS season.
Los Angeles and New York are destinations under consideration, with a battle for his signature now underway as clubs have permission to discuss terms with the outgoing Liverpool captain.
Gerrard has recorded an interview for Liverpool FC TV which will be aired on the club's website at 5pm later today where he has confirmed his intention to move to America.
